Ingredients

2 fluid ounces whiskey
¼ fluid ounce simple syrup
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Orange peel, for garnish
Ice, large cube

Measurement Conversions: 1 fl oz = 1 shot = 30ml

How To Make

Add whiskey, simple syrup and bitters to a glass.
With a smoking gun, fill the glass with smoke and cover. After 2 minutes, release the smoke
Add ice and stir until well chilled.
Express the oil of an orange peel by twisting over the glass, then drop into the glass to garnish.

Notes

Simple syrup consists of equal amounts of white sugar and water. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir to dissolve the sugar and cook until the mixture is slightly thickened. Cool before using. As an alternative to simple syrup you can try substituting with 1 teaspoon of maple syrup to give another depth of flavor pairing with the smoke.
Smoking - for a visual effect, you can place the glass under a smoke-filled dome cloche and reveal it when serving.
